About Ginevra & A Destionational FIT

Hello there, and thanks for stopping by and reading my blog!

My name is Jennifer and I’m a 23 year old Fashion Institute of Technology Bachelor student enrolled in the Advertising and Marketing Communications program in New York City and freelance in Public Relations. When I began to take Italian at FIT, a friend of mine Roberto, whose family is Italian, told me that Jennifer translates into Ginevra in Italian and I thought it was a beautiful name. I decided to adopt it as a pen name for this blog.

I’m currently preparing to study abroad in Florence, Italy. It’s an exciting experience because it’s going to be the first time I have an extended stay in another country. Right now, I’m doing all the administrative things through the school and getting everything set for when I’m there. Classes begin on January 27th, and the blog will continue to document my life as an Italian.

Beyond the immediate trip though, this blog will long-term be about traveling and finding a place in the world I would like to call home one day. My father is from Switzerland and my mother is from Peru, and they met here and decided to stay. In addition, many of my friends are international, coming here to study from all over the world, and I admire their courage to go somewhere new. From their example, their fearlessness to explore, and with the help of my dual Swiss & American citizenship, I would like to live and work in various places of the world, to learn of new languages, cultures and landscapes, to meet new people, take friends and family along the way, and find a destination that fits me.

And I want to thank many people for helping me along the way, from professors and school administrators, to bloggers and friends, and of course my brother and my parents. And a little spiritual guidance.
